NGC 6888 – Crescent Nebula

NGC 6888, the Crescent Nebula, is an emission nebula in Cygnus located 5,000 light years from Earth discovered in 1792 by William Herschel. It was formed by the faster stellar wind from the central Wolf-Rayet star colliding with slower moving material ejected when it became a red giant up to 400,000 years ago.
